Friday Five

1. I think something is up with my kid.  Is it teething?  Is it winter congestion?  She’s only 8 1/2 months… and a toothless wonder.  Needless to say, we have no idea how she’s going to react to teething and she is acting a little… off.  This will be easier once I figure out how she reacts, right?  I am no good at this guessing game.

2. Only 8 more days til Christmas!  Shopping was easy this year (we didn’t buy presents) and now I’m just trying to hold off from buying too many groceries until after the holiday. These stores are craaaazy!  We are celebrating Christmas Eve with my family after my husband gets off work (ah, retail) and then we are driving to Texas Christmas morning.

3. Speaking of Texas… I will be in the great state a few extra days with my girlie!  Of course, the hubs can’t go with me because of… retail. Oh, the life!  Seriously, though.  I need to see some of my Lone Star friends… and eat some real Mexican food.  Honestly, Oklahoma doesn’t really cut it.  It’s more TexMex than Texas!

4. THE KIDDO IS MOBILE. She’s been mobile for a while, pulling up on everything and rolling/sitting in a way that helped her get across the room.  She has shown NO interest in crawling.  Didn’t rock or anything.  Then on Monday, as I was wrapping gifts, she just took off in a perfect crawl! Crazy girl. 🙂  Now’s she’s crawling and furniture surfing and everything.  This kid.  She likes to do a million things at once.  Oh, and no obstacles can slow her down.  She also likes to try to grab my Aunt and Uncle’s cat.  Linzie will hiss at her and it doesn’t faze her in the SLIGHTEST.  I’m in trouble.

5. Come back here on Monday. I have some super great news to share!! The post is written and it will post at 8 am.  I know, why wait?  Todd has asked me to and if he gives me the go-ahead before then, you’ll know sooner!

Have a happy weekend! Good luck if you’re still shopping.  I saw Santa on a bench this week and nearly wrecked, so make sure you’re paying attention.  You want to stay on the “nice” list!

Friday Five – Halloween Edition

In honor of Halloween – I will do a Friday Five of random things that really creep me out!

1. Haunted Houses!  I have been to 3 haunted houses in my lifetime… and only actually IN two.  House #1 was at my dad’s work … the prison. A haunted house in a PRISON.  I was in 2nd grade. This completely shapes my view of a haunted house.  I was told by someone else that the inmates worked this haunted house.  Not likely, but when you’re 8, you believe it.  The last image of the haunted house was this guy:

This face haunts me still!

Haunted house #2 was at the Bricktown Haunted Warehouse when I was a freshman in high school.  They made me get at the back of the line where a creepo chased me whispering and blowing on my neck. In my haste to escape, I fell down a flight of stairs. Never again.

Haunted house #3 was an attempt to get me to go with my college freshman boyfriend in Fort Worth.  I was begged to go and I almost did it… until a 6+ foot tall guy clanging axes together asked me if I wanted to die. I didn’t. I think my boyfriend hated me that night. I was in tears. Creepy thing #2…

2. Mascots.  Things in masks (probably another reason I don’t like haunted houses).  You don’t know whose in those things!

This probably stems from a mascot chasing me when I was a cheerleader in high school…

3.  Creepy Crawly things! Spiders, bugs, etc!

EWWW!! ::shutter!::

4. People who I catch picking their nose.  I know everyone does it… but do it in a bathroom with a tissue.  Don’t do it in your car or on the couch.  That’s gross.

This is totally wrong. I know. But admit it, you laughed.

5. … you choose.  Let me know what you think is creepy!

Happy Halloween, my friends!  You may not hear from me for a week… but I’ll be missing you!

Friday Five

This is a sleep-deprived Friday five.  So, I’ll be brief.

1. My little turkey had her first day at the fair! She was SO good! On that note, can I brag a bit on how good she’s been this last week? (Yes, I’m knocking on wood now.)

quick catnap between travels

2. We traveled to the Longview/Nacogdoches area last week to attend PawPaw’s funeral.  We drove 6 hours to Longview on Friday, then Todd drove another 1 1/2 to Doches and didn’t get back until after midnight.  Then we went to Doches all day Saturday.  We traveled again Monday and Tuesday.  Baby girl was passed around from person to person, didn’t nap much, wasn’t in a familiar place much, and she was SUCH a happy girl the whole time! There was one moment though…

3. …when she let out a HUGE fart in the middle of the funeral service! It was right after they referred to the 9 great grandchildren he had (she was #9)! Despite the tears, everyone in our area laughed.  We think she was channeling PawPaw that day. 😉  …we miss him so much.

4. We are STILL in traveling mode right now!  More details later.  I don’t like to talk about stuff when we’re in the midst of it.

5. I will finish with a picture or two of our very first fair trip!

Love you all!
