Friday Five

1. My parents-in-law are coming. HERE. Will be here any MINUTE.  This gives me joy and panic.  Joy– because they are the best in laws ever and I can’t wait to see them.  Panic– because I am here on the computer while I should be frantically trying to prep for their arrival!

2. What do you do when your kid doesn’t want to be put down and you’re doing the laundry?  Put her in the laundry! They were still nice and warm from the dryer. 🙂 (Taken yesterday)

3. Speaking of the kid… she is having one of those days where she’s needing a nap about 5 minutes after she wakes up! She is being a bear. It’s pretty ridiculous. Combine that with the excitement and frantic attitude with the in-laws coming in, a bad hair day, a bad clothing day, and my normal neuroticism, and it’s insane in this house.

4. Call me Susie Homemaker.  I’m making cinnamon rolls from scratch today.  Would you like the recipe?  I’m planning to take pics as I make it and I’ll post the recipe this weekend if you want!  I’m adding a packet of vanilla pudding to the dough and making cream cheese icing so I hope it’s yummy!  If I screw it up… then you’ll know cause I won’t say anything about it. 🙂

5. My husband and I are traveling with the baby by plane to the far west Texas area in 2 weeks.  Flight #1 will be a short 2 1/2 hour flight.  Flight #2 will be 5 hours with a 2 1/2 hour layover in Dallas. It’s going to be an activity-packed weekend with little to none of the baby’s stuff from home.  Can I say it? I’m NERVOUS.  These kinds of weekends stress me out when it’s just me.  Adding a baby to the mix is a little intense.  What will I do?  How will I cope being strung from place to place with a baby?  They say I can just “say the word” and I can go back to the hotel but my personality doesn’t usually lend me to boldness with complete strangers.  Maybe I’ll be different because I’m concerned about Babybelle.

There’s my five!

  1. Is it appropriate to ask what you’re doing in West Texas? I mean I know what it sounds like you’re doing but it might not be “okay” for you to say outright what you’re doing? I ask because, if you’re doing what I think you’re doing…take advantage of going back to the hotel…take care of making sure you and Annabelle get a break. If you’re less stressed, Annabelle will sense it and probably relax some too. It also sends a message from the get-go that you are going to take care of your child and that is a priority.
    Just saying.

  2. Yes, it’s what you’re thinking – and you know how crazy those weekends are! I’m hoping to rest AS MUCH as possible. Her routine is important to me, especially since it will be thrown completely out of whack!

I’m so reluctant to delve more into the weekend because I don’t know what to feel. I don’t trust “the institution” right now.
